Title: [Skin lesions in renal transplant recipients]. Author: Myśliwiec H, Chodynicka B, Serwin AB. Journal: Wiad Lek; 2002; 55(3-4):214-20. PubMed ID: 12182007. Abstract: Renal transplantation is considered the only good long-term therapy for chronic renal failure. Better surgical techniques and recent advances in immunosuppressive therapy allow patients to survive for many years, free from any complications due to rejection. However, cutaneous lesions can be a significant problem for this group of patients. Immunosuppression predisposes them to infections--predominantly viral, but also fungal and bacterial ones, as well as malignant tumours like basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma and Kaposi's sarcoma. The review of the current literature on skin manifestations in renal transplant recipients is done.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
