    Surgery is the only curative treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Preoperative staging is aimed at evaluating surgical possibilities and optimal surgical technique. Thoracic and abdominal CT is the best way to routinely evaluate locoregional and metastatic extension of the tumor.
