  • Title: Clinical activities in the region analyzed (Western hemisphere).
Journal: IPPF WHR News Serv; 1974 Feb 06; 2(1):1. PubMed ID: 12229402.
    Abstract:
A retrospective analysis of new contraceptive acceptors in 1970, 1971, and 1972 by the Latin American and Caribbean Family Planning Associations was performed. Between 1971 and 1972 the IUD gained in popularity at almost the same rate as the pill. Analyses of family planning programs in the Caribbean countries showed that 57% of the new acceptors in 1972 came from Barbados, Trinidad, and Tobago. Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Venezuela accounted for 73% of the new acceptors in Latin America and the Caribbean. The pill is favored in Brazil and the IUD in Colombia, Venezuela, and Chile.
