Abstract: This document contains the 1993 Constitution of Kazakhstan which recognizes the priority of human rights and expresses resolve towards the creation of a democratic society which guarantees equal rights for all citizens regardless of race, nationality, sex, language, social position, social origin, place of residence, religion, convictions, membership in a public association, or previous criminal punishment. All forms of discrimination are forbidden. Citizenship requirements and the rights and freedoms of citizens are described. The latter include the right to residential mobility, political rights, the right to own property, the right to work in safe conditions for fair remuneration, the right to housing, the right to health protection and free medical care, the right to receive an education in free state institutions, the right to social security, the right to a healthy environment, the right to privacy. The right to marry is protected, and parents are assigned the duty to care for their children, while children capable of working must assist their parents.
