Title: The demographic aspects of women's employment in the United Arab Republic. Author: Gerzouzi E. Journal: Egypt Popul Fam Plann Rev; 1970 Jun; 3(2):93-100. PubMed ID: 12254521. Abstract: Trends in women's employment in the United Arab Republic and their relationships to childbearing rates was studied. Published statistical data for the period 1957-1967 were used. The ratio of economically active women in the labor force declined from 10.6% in 1957 to 9.5% in 1967; actual numbers of women employed increased by 76,000. Women employed in agriculture declined by 30%, women in the industrial sector declined by 13.8%, and women in the services (teaching, nursing, etc.) increased by 233%.
