  • Title: [Cervical mucus. 1. Physicochemical properties].
    Author: Garcea N, Moneta E, Iacobelli S, Bompiani A.
Journal: Ann Ostet Ginecol; 1970; 92():637-78. PubMed ID: 12256724.
    Abstract:
An extensive survey of the literature concerning the physiochemical properties of cervical mucus during the menstrual cycle and under various conditions of hormonal stimulation is presented. Available data show that the properties of cervical mucus are directly affected by the sex steroid hormones. Specifically, the typical so-called ovulatory patterns which favor penetration of the mucus by spermatozoa must be att ributed to the action of estrogens.
