Title: [Amenorrhea and dysovulation after oral contraception]. Author: Schaison G. Journal: Contracept Fertil Sex (Paris); 1979 Nov; 7(11):837-8. PubMed ID: 12261688. Abstract: Amenorrhea after interruption of oral contraception (OC) is a rare phenomenon; it happens in 2.2/1000 users, and ovulation in most cases is spontaneously reestablished 3-4 weeks later. The intervention of estroprogestational agents in the synthesis and liberation of prolactin, and prolactin's role in postpill amenorrhea and infertility is still to be satisfactorily investigated. Since combined OC only rarely implies a raised level of prolactin able to interfere with ovulatory mechanics, and eventual associated pathology should be investigated.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
