  • Title: [Fertility of Surinamese women in the Netherlands, 1976-1981].
    Author: Tas Rfj.
Journal: Maandstat Bevolking; 1983 Jan; 31(1):19-23. PubMed ID: 12265456.
    Abstract:
The fertility of the one percent of the population of the Netherlands born in Suriname and of the population of Surinamese nationality resident in the Netherlands is examined. Although the live birth rate of both groups is about twice as high as for the population of the Netherlands as a whole, the author shows that this difference can largely be explained by differences in the age structure of the populations concerned. In conclusion, the author suggests that the fertility of Surinamese women is about 20 percent higher than the fertility of women in the Netherlands as a whole.
