  • Title: [The influence of the family planning program on the reduction of fertility in the Jakarta metropolitan region from 1971 to 1976].
    Author: Rijadi S.
Journal: Majalah Demografi Indones; 1981 Jun; 8(15):23-58. PubMed ID: 12265994.
    Abstract:
The effects of official family planning programs in the Jakarta metropolitan region of Indonesia from 1971 to 1976 are examined. The methods used are based on those developed by Siew-Ean Khoo and focus both on actual changes in fertility and on changes in the intermediate variables that affect fertility. The author concludes that about 80 percent of the fertility decline that occurred in this period was due to contraceptive practice. Of this contraceptive usage, about half was due to government family planning program efforts and about 27 percent to private sector family planning programs. The need for better data is stressed.
