    Abstract:
    Recent migration from South Lebanon is examined using data from a sample survey of the population of the town of Khiyam. The survey was carried out after this population was forced to migrate in 1978. Consideration is given to the demographic characteristics of migrants; their educational status, health, and housing conditions; their economic activities; and their places of settlement both inside and outside of Lebanon. Problems examined include disequilibrium in population distribution and a deterioration in the socioeconomic conditions of migrants.
