Title: 1984 EPI revolving fund prices. Journal: EPI Newsl; 1983 Dec; 5(6):6, 8. PubMed ID: 12266295. Abstract: The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Revolving Fund, operational since 1979, continues to provide member countries with timely deliveries of high quality, low cost vaccines. Despite worldwide inflation over the past several years, the prices of vaccines purchases through the Fund in 1984 will generally be lower than in 1979 when the 1st vaccine contracts were places. For most vaccines, 1984 prices are markedly lower. Contracts for DT vaccine were placed for the 1st time in 1983. The 1984prices of DT-10 (adult) and DT-20 (adult and pediatric) have decreased by about 5%, while DT-10 (pediatric) has increased by 9%. The Revolving Fund has proven to be an effective mechanism for vaccine purchases. Its supplies are reliable. The economies of scale obtained by pooling regional vaccine requirements have helped to keep vaccine prices down. In the 1st 5 years of operations the Fund has processed over US$18 million in vaccine orders. It is anticipated that orders worth over US$3 million will be placed in 1984.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
