Abstract: This study is concerned with the extent to which temporary labor migration benefits the country of origin, particularly with regard to the acquisition of skills abroad and their subsequent use following return. The focus is on the impact on the construction industry in the capital of the Yemen Arab Republic, San'a, and the data were obtained during the course of interviews undertaken in 1982 with 2,500 construction workers.
