    Abstract:
    The post-coital insertion of IUDs is a proposed test to be undertaken at the Marie Stopes Clinic in London. The assumption is that within five days of unprotected intercourse the IUD acts as a means of preventing implantation of an egg in the event of fertilization. Researchers feel that by this method it would be possible to eliminate the trauma of abortion in unwanted pregnancies and to alleviate the anxiety of rape victims.
