Title: Resolution passed on 17 September 1985 declaring 1986 African immunization year. Author: World Health Organization WHO. Regional Office for Africa. Abstract: The Regional Committee for Africa, after examining the report of the Regional Director on the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in the African Region, approves the Regional Director's report that provides a clear picture of the situtation in regard to EPI in the African Region; appreciates the substantial support for EPI given by other international, governemental, and nongovernmental organizations; invites Member States to step up implementation of EPI in compliance with the recommendations set out in the report and ensure that the program objectives are realized by 1990; declares 1986 African immunization year; requests the Regional Director (1) to strengthen collaboration with Member State to meet the 1990 deadline with priority given to program management, logistics, and the cold chain; 2) to enhance the corrdination, mobilization, and utilization of resources intended for EPI implementation; (3) transmite this report as the contribution of the African Region to the Director General's progress report to the Executive Board and the World Health Assembly; (4) to continue to report to the Regional Committee on the progress made by the program towards attaining the social goal of health for ally be the year 2000; and (5) comends the Regional Director for his efforts to strengthen national immunization programs.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
