    Abstract:
    The size of the foreign population in the French labor force at the end of 1985 is investigated using data from official sources, including both the census and special surveys. Using data taken primarily from the Enquete ACEMO concerning manpower activity and employment conditions, the author estimates the 1985 foreign labor force to be between 1.5 and 1.6 million, a decrease of approximately 225,000 since 1973.
