    Abstract:
    The economic boom and accelerated development programs in Kuwait in recent years have created a labor market that native Kuwaitis have been unable to fill, with the result that a majority of jobs have been filled by non-nationals from other countries. The paper reveals that in 1985 migrants constituted over 60% of the total population and more than 80% of the labor force. Quinquennial censuses provide the main source for this in-depth study on changing migration patterns in Kuwait from 1957-1985.
