Title: [Ethnic homogeneity of the Quebec population during the French regime]. Author: Desjardins B. Journal: Cah Que Demogr; 1990; 19(1):63-76. PubMed ID: 12283465. Abstract: The author analyzes the ethnic structure of the population of Quebec province, Canada, during the French regime. "The Quebec population [was] defined very early along lines which were kept subsequently, because immigration contributed only marginally to its growth. After one century of settlement, spouses whose ethnic origin was French still represented 97% of the total, with Normandy, the Paris region and the West of France contributing...about two thirds."
