  • Title: Use of condoms among factors in urinary infections.
    Author: Tamkins T.
    Journal: Sun; 1995 Mar 03; ():1D. PubMed ID: 12288610.
    Abstract:
This news article describes a study of 374 college students, 86 of whom had urinary tract infections. Women whose partners used condoms were twice as likely to be infected when compared to women who used oral contraceptives. Women who used a diaphragm had triple the risk. Use of deodorant sanitary napkins or tampons, and drinking carbonated beverages also increased the risk. Black women were 5 times as likely as white women to be infected. The Michigan study appeared in the March issue of Epidemiology.
