    Abstract:
    This document contains major provisions of the 1986 Refugee Regulations of Lesotho. The regulations set out the procedure for applying for asylum in Lesotho, including procedures to be followed by the Committee investigating the application, the procedure to be followed if the application is rejected, and the ability of a person granted asylum to apply for refugee status for his family. The reports which must be sent to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees are listed, and cases where UN assistance must be sought are pointed out. Applicants, recognized refugees, and dependents of refugees are required to carry identification cards. The procedure for withdrawing refugee status is also outlined as is the expulsion procedure and appeals process.
