Title: [Evaluation of morbidity on the basis of mortality]. Author: Damiani P, Masse H, Aubenque M. Journal: J Soc Stat Paris; 1982; 123(1):58-74. PubMed ID: 12312223. Abstract: Prevalence and incidence rates of leading diseases are estimated by sex and age groups for the population of France aged 15 and over. "These estimations have been made on the basis of the regional statistics of causes of death in France, during the 1968-1970 period. A simple regression model has been used. The number of patients suffering from a given disease is defined as being the part of the population statistically linked to mortality by this disease. The results obtained can generally be compared to those available from other sources. As for cancers, it appears that the estimated annual number of new cases is four times higher than the number of registered new cases."
