    Abstract:
    The Canadian system of issuing temporary employment visas is first described, and the characteristics of the resulting guestworker labor force are considered. Comparisons are made with the situation in the United States and in Europe. The author notes that, in contrast to the situation in Western Europe, guestworkers make up only one percent of the total labor force.
