    Abstract:
    An analysis of trends in infant and child mortality on the Dayes plateau in Southwest Togo from 1930 to 1976 is presented. The data, which concern a sample of 3,528 births, indicate a decline in child mortality from 320 per 1,000 in 1930-1949 to 102 in 1970-1974. The relative stagnation of the rate of decline since 1965 is noted. Factors affecting mortality differentials are considered, including ethnic group and access to the health and school infrastructure provided as part of the plantation economy. (summary in ENG, SPA)
