    Abstract:
    The effect of selected socio-demographic variables on maternal mortality from 1979 to 1982 in three Cuban provinces is investigated. The results indicate the importance of woman's age at pregnancy, educational status, and marital stability. Consideration is also given to causes of maternal mortality, and the impact of abortion is noted. (summary in ENG, FRE)
