    Abstract:
    This paper is organized in two parts: the first reviews the history and economic development of the city of Corrientes, Argentina, and introduces the census and registry sources to be examined; the second presents the analysis leading to estimations of the mortality rates and life expectancy for this city in the nineteenth century.
