    Abstract:
    In order to implement the ICPD Program of Action adopted at Cairo, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has created a new unit, the Task Force on ICPD implementation. Under the direction of Dr. Nafis Sadik, UNFPA's executive director, the Task Force will be headed by Ms. Catherine S. Pierce, formerly Chief of the Women, Population and Development Branch of the Fund's Technical and Evaluation Division. Task Force actions will include: 1) planning and support; 2) ICPD follow-up activities at various levels, in cooperation with the UNFPA divisions and units concerned; 3) reporting on developments related to the Program of Action in the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, and other UN bodies; 4) bringing ICPD-related matters to the attention of UNFPA divisions, field offices, and Country Support Teams; and 5) providing administrative support to the executive director for her ICPD follow-up tasks.
