    Author: Evans MD.
Journal: J Aust Popul Assoc; 1996 May; 13(1):67-92. PubMed ID: 12321985.
    Abstract:
Recent findings concerning women's labor force participation are reviewed, with a focus upon unanswered questions and relevant data sets for further analysis. The review of literature is focused upon Australia in the context of some information for other developed countries. A brief history of female labor force participation from the 19th century is followed by an examination of labor force participation and marriage, the effects of education upon married women's labor force participation, the effect of husband's income upon wives' labor force participation, the effects of labor force participation upon married women's fertility, the consequences of women's labor force participation, and the effects of children, age, and cultural effects upon women's labor force participation. Data sources presented come exclusively from excellent nationwide samples.
