Title: Young age a factor in sterilization regret. Journal: Contracept Technol Update; 1999 Oct; 20(10):116-7. PubMed ID: 12322319. Abstract: A prospective study of women undergoing tubal sterilization in the US concluded that young age at the time of tubal sterilization is the most important factor for subsequent regret. This study revealed that 1 in 5 women sterilized at young age regret their decision to undergo sterilization. About 20% of women who underwent tubal sterilization at 30 years or younger expressed regret, as compared to 6% of women who underwent the procedure after the age of 30 years. In addition, almost half of the young women expressing regret asked for information about reversing their sterilization procedure. Presterilization counseling can help determine those who may have doubts later.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
