    Abstract:
    Problems related to the data on age in the 1961 and 1971 censuses of Indonesia are examined. A significant amount of age misreporting is established, particularly for ages ending with a zero or a five. An attempt is made to adjust the data on age distribution using destabilizing population methods, and some revised estimates of age distribution are presented for 1961 and 1971.
