Title: [Migration of aged people. Its importance and impact on the age structure of the population of the agglomerations of Brussels, Liege, Charleroi, Verviers, and Namur]. Author: Declercq-tijtgat A, Roucloux J. Journal: Popul Famille; 1982; (56):29-69. PubMed ID: 12339774. Abstract: This is the second part of a two-part article on the migration of the elderly in Belgium and its impact on the age structure of the population of five major urban areas. The present article is concerned with the factors that explain municipal variations in the number of elderly persons. Correlation analysis is used to show the explanatory role of the age structure of the resident population and the overall development of migration. A municipal typology is developed in which internal and external migration in these agglomerations can be distinguished in order to assess how migration of the elderly affects the age distribution.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
