Title: On a distribution of first birth interval with random components. Author: Singh UP, Singh VK, Singh OP. Journal: Janasamkhya; 1985; 3(1-2):91-5. PubMed ID: 12340878. Abstract: This paper derives a continuous time model for 1st birth intervals in which waiting time periods, nonsusceptibility associated with fetal losses, and physical separation from spouse are considered as random variables. The model is then applied to a data set drawn from a demographic survey conducted in Varanasi in 1969-70. Chi-square analysis indicated that the model is consistent with the observed situation in terms of the frequencies of 1st complete conception. Moreover, the estimates obtained through use of this model are in agreement with those obtained in other analyses of the survey data. This model eliminates the difficulties of assuming that periods of nonsusceptibility and physical separation are constant.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
