Title: [Termination of very early pregnancy by mini-suction]. Author: Xue P. Journal: Shengzhi Yu Biyun; 1986 Nov; 6(4):49-51. PubMed ID: 12341304. Abstract: An analysis of pregnancy termination by mini-suction involved the use of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) RIA to study 409 subjects who had experienced amenorrhea for 36 days. 1000 cases have previously been investigated by using improved rapid 1 1/2 hour blood HCG. A blood HCG level of 20 mg/ml is considered positive and indicates the presence of a pregnancy. Over a 3 year period, 1049 subjects, each having experienced 26-36 days of amenorrhea, were studied. Mini-suction was performed in 505 cases. An analytical study of its safety confirmed that it was an acceptable method of contraception, offering the advantages of speed and effectiveness. To test HCG RIA, 2cc of blood was drawn from a patient who had experienced amenorrhea for less than 36 days; the blood sample was retained. Before the operation, general physical and an obstetric examinations were performed; the patient's medical history was also reviewed. Immediately preceeding the operation, the outer vagina the vaginal canal and the cervix were disinfected. The cervix was then dilated and suction (400 mm of negative pressure) was applied twice by using a common, negative pressure suction device attached to a domestically made 3mm metal tube. Each time, the suction tube functioned as a curet -- and movements were made in 360 degree rotations, beginning at the bottom of the uterus. The time required for completion of the procedure as well as the amount of bleeding were recorded. The values of the villi A-S reaction were tested by rinsing the extracted material, which was sent to a pathology laboratory for examination.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
