Abstract: This Venezuelan Decree establishes the Special Programme for the Financing of Housing in the Social Interest. Under the Programme the government, by means of participating financial institutions, is to issue loans for the purchase or construction of housing. Beneficiaries of the Programme are to be persons who have reached the age of majority, do not have their own house, and have obtained no other housing loan, and companies purchasing houses for their workers. Priority is to be given to persons with children under the age of 18, projects developed on land owned by the National Fund for Urban Development or the National Housing Institute, and companies purchasing houses for their workers. The price of the housing must not exceed certain limits, depending on the size of the housing; the loan must not exceed certain percentages of the value of the housing, depending on whether the housing is constructed or purchased; and the payment on a construction loan must not exceed 30% of a purchasing family's income. Further provisions of the Decree set forth the role and responsibilities of financial institutions in the Programme and tax advantages for persons involved in the Programme, among other things.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
