    Abstract:
    This Decree creates a Women's Institute under the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Institute is to be composed of representatives of various governmental agencies and nongovernmental organizations and is to have as its objectives the following: a) to make a diagnosis of the situation of women in Uruguay; b) to propose legislative reforms and other policies necessary to achieve the effective participation of women in society as well as in the making of political decisions; and c) to propose the means necessary to execute decisions adopted by the Conference "Women, Population, Development."
