Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the application of CT-guided puncture biopsy for diagnoses of tumorschest. METHODS: Twenty-two patients with thoracic tumors that were not pathologically identified received CT-guided puncture biopsy for histological and cytological examination. RESULTS: All biopsy procedures were successfully completed and 18 cases were identified as having malignant tumors by histological examinations, while 5 identified by cytological examinations, and definite pathological diagnoses were established in 19 cases. Pneumatothorax occurred in 2 cases and bloody sputum developed in 1 case. CONCLUSION: CT-guided puncture biopsy may provide better biopsy samples and pathological supplemented by cytological examinations improve the accuracy of diagnoses.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
