    Author: Gibelin P.
Journal: Rev Prat; 2002 Oct 01; 52(15):1655-8. PubMed ID: 12434594.
    Abstract:
Acute cardiogenic pulmonary oedema is a medical emergency. Most episodes occur in the morning or at night. Pulmonary oedema occurs more frequently in the colder months. It generally results from an acute left ventricular insufficiency, itself resulting from systolic or diastolic dysfunction, myocardial infarction is the main etiology. Clinical presentation may be atypical. Treatment is based on oxygen, diuretics and nitrates. In severe cases, mechanical ventilation may be necessary.
