Journal: J Reprod Med; 2002 Nov; 47(11):943-5. PubMed ID: 12497687.
    Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Thyrocarcinoma in struma ovarii is rare. Treatment options include salpingo-oophorectomy, complete surgical resection and/or adjuvant therapy. CASE: A young woman presented with a pelvic mass. Unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy was performed with findings of malignant thyroid tissue. No adjuvant therapy was administered. CONCLUSION: Conservative surgical approaches should be considered in patients with malignant struma ovarii who wish to maintain fertility.
