  • Title: The oral antidiabetic agents.
    Author: Bierman EL.
Journal: Am Fam Physician; 1976 Jan; 13(1):98-104. PubMed ID: 1251792.
    Abstract:
Oral antidiabetic agents can be used to lower blood glucose levels in some adult-onset diabetics who do not have acute complications and in whom control of hyperglycemia by weight reduction alone or insulin treatment is not possible. Except for their investigational use, these agents have no place in the treatment of chemical or latent diabetes, or subclinical or suspected diabetes, and they are contraindicated in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis. Findings from the University Group Diabetes Progcted and judicious use of these drugs.
