  • Title: [Everyday management in mixed dentition and Tweed's concept].
    Author: Jégou I.
Journal: Orthod Fr; 2002 Dec; 73(4):375-88. PubMed ID: 12528242.
    Abstract:
The topic of this paper is to emphasize the strategy of occlusion management during childhood. The orthodontist intervenes during the mixed dentition period, for transversal and antero-posterior cross-bites, for vertical problems such as open-bites and deep-bites, but he also deals with habits and functional diseases. Treatment has to be simple and short. Most of the appliances are fixed. The author presents some clinical cases, and then defines "short-cuts" as steps of therapy that shorten the active treatment. To conclude, a case report emphasizes the fact that before any diagnosis based on the lower incisor, the clinician must ensure that the incisor location is closely related to a malocclusion and not to an unbalanced neuromuscular function.
