Title: [Characteristics of interactions between mentally ill parents and their young children]. Author: Deneke C, Lüders B. Journal: Prax Kinderpsychol Kinderpsychiatr; 2003 Mar; 52(3):172-81. PubMed ID: 12693353. Abstract: Disturbed parent infant interactions are frequently seen in cases of parental mental illness. They are indicating possible risks of the infant's development. Regular and illness-specific patterns are not found. Therefore the interaction has to be observed and classified in each individual case to recognize the relevance of the parental illness to the child. Different interaction patterns and their impact on the child's development are described and illustrated by case vignettes. The importance of preventive intervention is highlighted.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
