Title: [The effect of intravenous novocaine administration on the outcome of hemorrhagic reactions]. Author: Sherman DM, Goncharov AG. Journal: Biull Eksp Biol Med; 1976 Feb; 81(2):158-61. PubMed ID: 1276405. Abstract: Experiments conducted on 48 dogs and 50 rabbits showed that intravenous injection of novocain at various periods of the organism reaction to acute massive hemorrhage promoted an increase of survival and of the life span of the animals. Administration of the preparation increase the rate of flow, cardiac stroke and minute volume, and, on the whole, prevented the occurrence of late period of hemorrhagic shock. A conclusion was drawn that intravenous injections of novocain delayed the rate of development of the pathological process, and thus promoted more complete mobilization of the compensatory reactions.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
