    Abstract:
    The survival rate of low and very low birth weight infants increases as a natural consequence of the improvement in perinatal care and introducing the new methods and techniques in neonatal intensive therapy. In the face of this progress the number of patients potentially threatened with hearing and vision impairment grows. In this paper we described the most essential risk factors of the occurrence of these complications especially in premature newborns. Also the methods of prevention, early detection of disturbances or treatments of hearing and vision impairment constituted the target of this work.
