Abstract: The purpose of this article is to summarize some of the current issues in diagnostic histopathology and to provide an update of both molecular and cytogenetic studies of the most commonly encountered pediatric brain tumors. Most of the discussion focuses on astrocytomas, primitive neuroectodermal tumors and medulloblastomas, and ependymomas because they make up the majority of these neoplasms.
