  • Title: [Investigations to monaural and binaural time resolution of short interruptions within a defined signal (author's transl)].
    Author: von Wedel H.
Journal: Laryngol Rhinol Otol (Stuttg); 1976 Sep; 55(9):748-55. PubMed ID: 135904.
    Abstract:
The perception threshold of short interruptions of signals was examined as a result of time resolution ability. Main interest was brought to the dichotic signal representation, were different structures between both ears provoke specific hearing sensations. As variables of interruption perception we chose the parameters onset and duration of the interruption and signal duration and intensity. The comparison of the monaural and dichotic perception threshold showed significant differences concerning time resolution. Further experiments gave correlations between speech discrimination with noise, troubles in selective hearing and perception of short interruptions. Compared to standard values the binaural perception was significantly reduced.
