  • Title: Plasma dopa is unaffected by diet.
Journal: Nutr Rev; 1990 Jun; 48(6):253-5. PubMed ID: 1365752.
    Abstract:
Significant amounts of bound 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA), when present in dog food, did not affect plasma levels of DOPA or catecholamines in dogs. Thus, plasma DOPA is a useful index of activity of tyrosine hydroxylase, the rate-limiting enzyme in catecholamine synthesis in these animals.
