Abstract: Fourteen patients with severe atopic dermatitis of long duration, requiring long term systemic corticosteroid therapy were managed with a treatment program designed to preserve the natural lipid surface film, avoid controllable stimuli to sweating, control skin infection, modify existing keratoderma and utilize active topical corticosteroid therapy in non-lipid vehicles.
