Abstract: Advances in cancer chemotherapy has been supported greatly by the progresses of the studies of tumor cell biology, development of new anticancer drugs, fundament studies related to drug resistance, biochemical modulation and others. In this paper, biological studies influenced on cancer chemotherapy in early days such as skipper's law, Goldie-Coldman hypothesis and others, development of various anticancer drugs (which were discovered in Japan or abroad), studies of drug resistance, biochemical modulation were briefly reviewed.
