Abstract: Progressive supranuclear palsy, first described as clinical entity by Steele, Richardson and Olszewski, is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. Besides progressive supranuclear oculomotor disturbances, other characteristic signs are pseudobulbar paresis, axial rigidity, gait disturbances and subcortical dementia.
