Title: Periocular regional block: experience with a two-point injection technique. Author: Plitt KC. Journal: CRNA; 1992 Feb; 3(1):22-9. PubMed ID: 1477683. Abstract: As an alternative to traditional retrobulbar needle placement during regional anesthesia of the eye, a two-point injection technique has been successfully employed which uses less aggressiveness in needle tip approach to key structures and affords good lid akinesia without need of separate blockade of facial nerve branches. While this technique is more closely related to so-called "peribulbar" approaches in terms of needle direction and volume of anesthetic administered, it is recognized that final needle tip placement with any technique may, at times, be difficult to ascertain. This emphasizes the need for more generic terminology in block description such as "periocular" or "ocular regional blockade."[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
