    Abstract:
    The subject of the research is to survey the knowledge and opinions about cigarette smoking by secondary school students. The survey was based on anonymous questionnaires, which were distributed among chosen at random group of Gdańsk students parents'. The most frequent reason (32.14%) of starting the smoking by secondary school students was the influence of colleagues who smoke. Parents estimated the smokers percentage at their children's school on 33.18%. Only half of surveyed parents stated that teachers have got possibility of efficient non-smoking education. The majority of them (83.04%) do not know if the school undergoes promotion programs against smoking, but 3 of them stated that they had conversations with their children about smoking. 91.96% surveyed parents are sure that their children do not smoke.
