Abstract: Ten cases of Budd-Chiari syndrome associated with coeliac disease have been reported in the literature, most of them in North African subjects. Supporting this association, we report a new case in a young Spanish Caucasian man in whom the cause of the syndrome was the membranous obstruction of the inferior vena cava, an infrequent cause of Budd-Chiari syndrome in Western countries.
